X-Cultural Studies is a 21st-century academic field grounded in the Science of Feelings, which seeks to understand the nature of feeling itself. It explores culture, art, psychology, society, healing, humanity, and the world through the self-understanding of feeling as a valid understanding directed toward the nature of feeling itself.

The Institute of X-Cultural Studies at Kookmin University gives this academic orientation concrete form as a research platform. At points where disciplines and cultural contexts intersect, the Institute investigates the workings and nature of feeling and develops the theories and methods of X-Cultural Studies through research, publication, and scholarly exchange.

Culture, art, psychology, society, and healing cannot be separated from feeling. Culture is a way in which feeling is formed and expressed in life; art reveals its forms and beauty. Psychology investigates the structures of feeling and mind, society examines how feelings and relations are organized, and healing explores processes through which human beings come to understand themselves and the world more fully.

The Institute does not leave this academic orientation within the boundaries of the research room. Within PROJECT X, ART LAB X extends research into artistic practice through observation, analysis, curating, and exhibition, while SYMPOSIUM X develops academic questions into scholarly dialogue through research, presentation, and discussion.

In addition, SEMINAR X connects knowledge and experience across fields through dialogue, while Field Trip X expands new research questions and X-Cultural perspectives through direct experience of exhibitions, architecture, industry, and cultural spaces.

Through the accumulation of research and practice, dialogue and experience, the Institute seeks to build an X-Cultural research network in which researchers, students, artists, and professionals exchange knowledge and perspectives beyond individual research outcomes.

The Institute welcomes researchers and scholarly communities who wish to join in opening new horizons for X-Cultural Studies.

"文化交叉学"（X-Cultural Studies）是以认识情感本身之本性的"情感科学（Science of Feelings）"为学术基础，并通过作为对情感本身之本性的正当认识的"情感的自我理解"，探究文化、艺术、心理、社会、治愈，以及人类与世界的21世纪学术领域。

国民大学文化交叉研究所是将这一学术取向具体化为研究实践的平台。研究所立足于不同学科与文化脉络相互交汇之处，探究情感的作用与本质，并通过研究、出版与学术交流，不断积累和拓展文化交叉学的理论与方法。

离开情感，文化、艺术、心理、社会与治愈皆无从存在。文化是情感在生活中形成并被表达的方式，艺术呈现其形式与美；心理探究情感与心灵的结构，社会考察情感与关系如何被组织，治愈则探索人如何更加完整地理解自身存在与世界的过程。

研究所并不让这一学术取向停留在研究室之内。在 PROJECT X 中，ART LAB X 通过观察、分析、策展与展览，将研究扩展为艺术实践；SYMPOSIUM X 则通过研究、发表与讨论，将学术问题发展为新的学术对话。

此外，SEMINAR X 通过对话连接不同领域的知识与经验，Field Trip X 则通过展览、建筑、产业与文化空间等现场体验，拓展新的研究问题与文化交叉学视野。

通过研究与实践、对话与经验的持续积累，文化交叉研究所希望超越个别研究成果，建立由研究者、学生、艺术家与专业人士共同交换知识与经验的文化交叉研究网络。

文化交叉研究所期待与愿意共同开拓文化交叉学新学术视野的研究者与学术共同体同行。
